An Anthology of the Wind

A new body of work by Lottie Consalvo and Sarah Mosca

Air may not seem like anything at all, you look right through it all the time. It doesn’t have much substance, you can’t grab it but you can feel it. It can dry your clothes, crack your lips, and carry boats across oceans. It can pull trees from the ground, it pushes dust across the earth and it carries our voices.

There is a telephone booth in Otsuchi, Japan that isn’t connected to a line. It was put there by a man for anyone to use to communicate with those who have passed, he calls it the ‘wind phone’. You can pick up the phone and tell them about your day. The wind carries your message.

Lottie Consalvo and Sarah Mosca have collaborated to create site-specific sound, video and sculptural works that inhabit the internal and external spaces of the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima (MAP mima):

An Anthology of the Wind - a video installation in The Cube

Weightlessness - a video screening in The Node

Hold #1-4 - a series of sculptures in the Discovery Ports

Wind Cycle - a sound installation on the North Wall

All works are on show until 28 August. MAP mima is open for viewing Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3pm.

Note: MAP mima will be closed on Friday 15 July, and the exhibition in The Cube will be closed on Saturday 16 July, both for rehearsals.

The artists would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which this work is presented and was made, the Awabakal People, and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area. We extend that respect to Elders past, present and future.
