This conversation explores protocols that promote self-determination, cultural safety, and meaningful collaboration with First Nations artists. “WE CREATE SAFE SPACES” REPORT
What does it truly mean to create safe spaces in the arts? This session centres on the We Create Safe Spaces Report, researched and co-written by Jasmin Sheppard (Tagalaka, Critical Path's First Nations artist-curator) and Joshua Staines (Wiradjuri), with artwork by Shana O'Brien (Darkinjung and Dharug). The report exposes the systemic challenges faced by many First Nations artists and peers. Link to the We Create Safe Spaces report.

Shaping a more inclusive and dynamic dance future through locally driven innovation.
This in-depth conversation with Philip Channells offers an overview of the Northern Rivers dance sector’s post-disaster recovery, featuring research from the Dance Sector Uplift project and initiatives including PH(R)ASE and PRACTICE AND PLAY. Positioned as a model disaster recovery blueprint for regional dance, it opens dialogue around the co-design of a NSW Regional Independent Artist Network (RIAN), which aims to foster a more inclusive, collaborative, and geographically responsive dance sector.

With Rosemarie Milson (Newcastle Writers Festival), Braddon Snape (The Creator Incubator), Janie Gibson (Whalechorus) and Adam Deusien (Lingua Franca).

A dynamic triple bill program by three of Australia’s leading independent choreographers: Tra Mi Dinh, Anton and Sara Black on Catapult's professional company.

The carpark at the rear of the theatre can be accessed via the John Street entrance, with limited on street parking available.
ACCESSIBILITY
The Warners Bay Theatre can be accessed via a ramp on Lake St and flat entry once inside the building. The venue has LH and RH accessible toilets. There are two accessible parking spots are in the car park behind the theatre via the John Street entry.

Set hearing loop to T (Telecoil) - coverage between stage and tiered seating.
DRINKS AND SNACKS
There will be a bar open with wine, beer and snacks available to purchase using EFTPOS only.
