What is Maker-Con?
Maker-Con is a conference that will bring together makers, innovators, enthusiasts, creatives and STEM educators for a dynamic exchange of ideas, skills and inspiration including robotics, AI, custom VR, coding and circuits, and digital fabrication.
Offering hands-on workshops and expert-led talks that showcase making, DIY culture and STEM education, the day will include:
- Robotics with Tribotix demonstrating innovative technology and the use of robotics in education
- How to use digital fabrication tools to make almost anything, from prototyping to final products
- Learn to design custom VR, using sensors and actuators
- Use modern maker electronics to build fun and creative projects
- DIY media installation for urban art and digital placemaking
- How to use everyday materials to deliver hands-on learning in STEM
- Explore how FabLabs technology fosters creativity and entrepreneurship for people and communities.

The Maker Showcase is a highlight of Maker-Con, where creativity takes center stage. This dynamic exhibition features a diverse array of projects and inventions from makers of all skill levels, offering a unique opportunity to explore the innovative minds behind each creation. From cutting-edge tech to handcrafted masterpieces, the Maker Showcase is a celebration of the imagination, ingenuity, and hard work that drives the maker community. Whether you're a seasoned inventor or a curious enthusiast, this is your chance to see, share and be inspired by the latest in DIY and STEM innovation.
The Maker Showcase will take place at Maker-Con during the lunch break and the networking event, offering a prime opportunity to explore innovative projects while connecting with fellow attendees and like-minded individuals.

Included in the Maker Showcase this year will be the Curious Minds Exhibition, this hands-on exhibition is a fun way to learn about STEM concepts. The interactive exhibits communicate and explore topics across space exploration, astronomy, earth and environmental science, biology, physics and engineering. The exhibition has been imagined and built by year 9 and 10 students from Belmont High School, Cardiff High School, Erina High School and Rutherford Technology High School, in collaboration with the Lake Mac Libraries Fab Lab.
