Spoil yourself this Valentine’s Day with acclaimed production of Romeo & Juliet performed by professional theatre troupe Come you Spirits.

This production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet has been touring Australia for the past 2 years and is an offering of unconditional love. Passion and hope propels us towards a vision of a brave new world of forgiveness and connectedness where love thrives. Romeo & Juliet invites an opening of the heart to receive a light so bright that we recognise our own capacity for growth – in all its tenderness and glory.

General Admission $40 (plus $3.33 booking fee)

Lake Mac Arts Member $36 (plus $3.12 booking fee)

CAST

Jo Bloom is our Nurse in Romeo & Juliet, and in our other productions plays Lady Macbeth, Helena, Cleopatra, and Caliban. She has performed Shakespeare across the UK and Australia in castles, theatres, cathedrals and botanical gardens. She’s worked with the British Shakespeare Company, Australian Shakespeare Company, and has performed in every production by Come you Spirits, which she founded. Jo also works as an energy healer and plant medicine practitioner.

Sontaan Hopson plays Juliet in our Romeo & Juliet, and in our other shows is Ariel, The Witch, Charmian and Hermia. She is a multiple award-winning actress of stage and screen, who has toured theatre across Australia including Sydney Opera House with Oneness - Voice Without Form, as Calpurnia in Julius Caesar, and winning People’s Choice Award for Pride an Prejudice Short and Sweet.Sontaan is also a qualified Spiral Practitioner, emotional clearance facilitator, and energy worker, helping raise the vibrations of all across the globe.

Charles Mayer is our Friar Laurence in Romeo & Juliet, and also plays our Macbeth, Prospero, Antony, and Demetrius-Bottom. He is a graduate of Guildhall School of Music & Drama and a former infantry commander in the British Army. He has performed in many TV and film productions and on the West End stage, Shanghai, and across Australia and New Zealand with State Theatre Company of South Australia and Pop-Up Globe, and is co-founder of Come you Spirits, performing with the other actors in all five productions.

Ciarán O'Riordan is Romeo in our Romeo & Juliet, and also plays our Ferdinand, Lysander-Puck and MacDuff. Recent other credits include Grain in the Blood at KXT, Mel Stanwyck in Chimerica (New Theatre), and original plays What Have You Done (Chippen St. Theatre) and Sydney The Folk Musical (Newcastle Fringe, Sydney Folk Festival). He has also devised and directed a pop-up production of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Past Shakespeare credits include Pistol in The Merry Wives of Windsor (New Theatre), Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream (The Acting Factory), Pericles in Pericles of Tyre (The Acting Factory), Ned Poins in Henry IV Parts One and Two with Streamed Shakespeare, as well as Silvius in As You Like It and Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night as part of ACA's Graduating Company of 2020.

Nathan “Bear” Meola is a storyteller and healer who helps people connect more deeply with their bodies and awaken their mythic imagination through story, ceremony, and the art of slowing down. He weaves between communiites bringing people together shairng the ancient craft of storytelling, running storytelling workshops, retreats and working with private clients in in service to art, love and connection.


VENUE INFORMATION

PARKING

Parking is available in designated areas surrounding the venue, including two accessible parking spaces in front of the theatre.

ACCESSIBILITY

Accessible access to Rathmines Theatre is available via the ramp on the lake side of the theatre. There are two accessible parking spaces in front of the theatre. There is one accessible unisex toilet (right-hand transfer), and one accessible male toilet (ambulant).

HEARING LOOP

A Hearing Loop is available in the theatre. To receive the signal directly a patron can switch their hearing aid or cochlear implant process to the T Switch, or Telecoil position.

ACCESSIBLE SEATING

DRINKS AND SNACKS

Beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Please note, Rathmines Theatre is an EFTPOS only venue.

This event may be photographed and filmed and your image could be used in advertising and promotion by Lake Macquarie City Council. Should you wish to not be photographed or filmed please advise event organisers on entry at the event.
