The Nutcracker Remixed

The performance of the Nutcracker has been a Christmas tradition for cities the world over, and it's time to bring that tradition to Lake Macquarie.

Usually performed as a ballet, the Nutcracker tells the story of Clara who is gifted a toy nutcracker by her uncle Drosselmyer at the family’s Christmas Eve party. Upon going to sleep on Christmas Eve the Nutcracker springs to life taking Clara on a magical journey through toy land, the land of snow, the land of sweets and the dream time before returning to her bedroom on Christmas morning. Was it a dream?

The Nutcracker Remixed has a twist - our story is told with modern Christmas songs, comedic chipmunks as our narrators and loads of laughs, upbeat performances and Christmas Cheer. Our cast features both professional performers and children learning performing arts from across Lake Macquarie ranging in age from 6 years to adult.

A Christmas experience

This year we have created a whole Christmas experience for families! Its a whole lot more than just the show!

Gates open at 5:30pm where families can grab some delicious fare from our food trucks inside the precinct as well as play jumbo Christmas lawn games, do some Christmas Craft at or craft table, meet our roving Christmas Characters & also get "Elfie Selfies" against a variety of Christmas backdrops set up around the area all as part of your ticket price!

Kidchella Newcastle will be there offering a Christmas ponytail hair bar! Not only can you rock your Christmas ponytail at The Nutcracker... You can also reuse as many times as you like including the big day itself! Ponytail hair bar is $35 per ponytail session. They will also be selling Christmas LED headbands.

Then at 6:30 its time for the magic to begin onstage!
