Untethered by Alyson Bell - installation

Untethered is a new exhibition of work by Sydney based artist Alyson Bell, presented at the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima. Bell’s work will encompass a number of MAP mima elements, exploring sound, video, installation, projection and sculpture.

Alyson Bell is a Sydney based multi-disciplinary artist working primarily in video, digital media and installation. Utilising projection, animation, sound, light and shadow with repurposed materials, the moving image is pushed outside of its traditional two dimensional format. Installations are a response to 'happenings' both close to the heart through to subjects of greater magnitude in the wider world. These translate into a darker transformational context or even surprise with an element of playfulness.

As a graduate of the VCA Film & Television School in Melbourne, Alyson also holds a BA Hons degree in Design (Leeds Beckett University, UK) and diploma in the Visual Arts. She has been exhibiting since 2015 at various festivals, galleries and arts prizes in Sydney and beyond. Most recently in 2022 she was the winner of the Major Open Award at the North Sydney Art Prize with her video installation 'The Twighlight Hour', which highlighted the fast diminishing timeline of climate change.
