Zippie Tiffenright

Zippie Tiffenright (They/Them) is an 18-year-old theatre creator, who works in postmodern theatrical and writing styles through an adaptive lens, while continuing to experiment and develop their craft.

Zippie has assistant directed Heathers The Musical (Chookas Entertainment) and been a part of the Chookas Youth Program, assisting on productions such as Chicago (2022) and Legally Blonde (2023).

They won ‘Best Director’ at Riverside Theatre’s ‘Sharp Short Theatre’ Competition, with original short play ‘Queen Mab’; a new Shakespearean-esque, queer and metatheatrical insight into the life of Mercutio Escalus, known in William Shakespeare’s classic work, Romeo & Juliet.

Zippie has been a part of Bearfoot Theatre’s ‘Workshops’ developing original works, and was a Rainbow Cub in 2023, expanding on group devising skills to create an original piece derived from ‘reshaping history through a queer lens’.

They are currently assistant directing ‘The Laramie Project’ at Lindsay St Players. At the beginning of 2023, Zippie participated in the ‘Unlocking The Local’ playwrights workshop, collaborating with Griffin Theatre Company and Tantrum Youth Arts, and continued as a Griffin Theatre Youth Ambassador for 2023.

In 2022, they were a part of Bell Shakespeare’s work experience program and continued being mentored by Joanna Erskine as a part of the weeklong Storyteller’s Festival 2023 at KXT on Broadway.
