Fern Martins

Fern Martins has an artistic career almost spanning 50 years, with her first one woman exhibition at the age of 19. Represented in: The National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. Art Gallery of NSW, State Library of NSW, Museum of Contemporary Art, Newcastle Art Gallery, Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia, collections in Australian Schools, Universities, Aboriginal Communities and many private collections in Australia and overseas.

Fern has always participated in the development of community artistic identities. A few highlights are the initial developments of the Woman's art space, Adelaide, Sculpture workshop Adelaide, Artists for Aboriginal land rights Sydney, Treaty movement and founding member of Boomalli ,the first urban indigenous  artists cooperative. Fern's commitment is still flourishing today with teaching, community art projects and Indigenous reconciliation projects. Fern is passionate about her faith and Aboriginal self determination.
