Jenny McCracken

Jenny McCracken has worked professionally as a visual artist since leaving a Fine Arts degree after four years at RMIT in 1988. Building a broad range of experience across many mediums, her work has included gigantic murals, portraits, wildlife art, 3D pavement art, trompe l’oeil (trick of the eye) murals and paintings, commissioned works and sculptures. She has worked in theatre, been a finalist in the Moran Portrait Prize, the Gosford Art Prize, the Kennedy Art prize and the WAMA Works on Paper art prize, as well as contributing works to multiple group exhibitions over the past 3 decades. In 2022 she held a solo exhibition at the Gosford Regional Art Gallery and was commissioned to create a piece for their permanent collection.

In addition to exhibiting and teaching art workshops, Jenny has the rare accolade of winning more pavement art competitions, locally and internationally, than any other Australian artist. Her work has entertained, enthralled and even educated diverse audiences across the streets and walls of the globe. Moving to the Central Coast, after 30 years based in Melbourne, has led to a further shift in practice, with greater focus on themes of spotlighting endangered species, biodiversity and environmental networks, and building connection, curiosity and respect for nature, and investigating our human relationship with the natural world.
