Kelly White
Kelly is an accomplished Artist and Educator whose journey began with a focus on Fine Arts at the University of Newcastle where she specialised in Ceramic Sculpture. Her passion for both art and education led her to pursue Post Graduate studies in Education, laying the foundation for over two decades of teaching experience. Beyond the classroom, Kelly has extended her expertise into the welfare sector, increasing her skills with studies in Art Therapy and Youth Work. Early in her career, her artistic talents garnered recognition with exhibitions at venues such as the Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery and participation in the 2002 Biennale of Sydney. In 2023, Kelly founded Lake House Clay & Art Studio. Located in Coal Point, her studio serves as a creative hub in the Lake Macquarie Community fostering artistic expression, offering classes, workshops, and events that invite participants to explore the boundless possibilities of clay and other artistic mediums. Through her studio, Kelly not only shares her love for art but also provides a serene and inspiring space for others to tap into and explore their own creativity.
Kelly predominantly works with Keane’s White Raku and Feeney’s BRT clays, building both purely sculptural and functional pieces. For many years her work focused of figurative works, however recently she has started experimenting with more abstract pieces inspired by the everchanging space where the water meets the land. Working from her studio in Coal Point, she expresses her passion for the tidal shores of Lake Macquarie and the local beaches. Her works are intricate and tactile, tiny forms meticulously pieced together to create larger thalassic pieces.
