Rae Woolnough

Rae’s love of art and textiles has been a lifelong interest, from sewing her first garment at eight years of age to designing and making her own wedding dress, there has always been a connection with textiles and design. Rae has studied dressmaking, photography, life drawing, painting, interior design, pottery and has completed a Diploma of Graphic Design & Communications. She has also studied Fine Arts at University. Rae discovered felting fifteen years ago and since then has experimented and researched felt making, exploring new and different techniques and textural directions. Using a combination of various processes, she creates artworks, vessels, jewellery, wearables and sculptures. Rae artworks are held in private collections nationally and internationally. She has also taken on commercial commissions including completing three large reception area artworks on the P&O's biggest Cruise Ship "Iona". Rae has taught felting internationally and is always excited to share her love of felting with interested parties. She currently has free and for fee online felting workshops available via her website.


Rae's felted works include natural products such as Australian fine merino wool, alpaca, mohair and hand dyed silk. She utilises various felting techniques such as Shibori, Geode and Nuno.
