Wendy Shipard

Wendy has always fostered a love of art so when she retired in 2006 she enrolled in Painting & Drawing classes at West Wollongong TAFE Art School. In 2012 Wendy established the Mangerton Tin Shed Artists, a core group of six women painted for five years and at the end of each year the tin shed was converted to a gallery where paintings were sold. During these years Wendy exhibited at the Thiroul Seaside Festival where her paintings were sold. In 2016 Wendy was part of an exhibition that was held in the Community Access Gallery upstairs at the Art Gallery of Wollongong. As a result of this exhibition Wendy was asked to design and paint a wine label for Corang Estate Wines which is still used today on all their wines.

In 2017 Wendy and her husband moved to Toronto, they purchased a house that would accommodate an art studio. Wendy undertook several art classes at the Booragul Art Gallery in the room that is now the café. Then in November 2020 Wendy held a solo art exhibition in her then established Studio on Oak. This year Wendy exhibited at the Dobell Festival. Wendy would like to be part of a broader art community and is excited about taking part in the Open Studios.

Wendy's primary medium is acrylic paint on canvas, paper and board, as well as using several mixed media techniques including collage and ink.
