Kimberly is an emerging artist based in Caves Beach, NSW. She studied Literature and Visual Arts Education at University and for the past few years has built her art practice from her home studio. She has made artwork for commercial, educational and public works projects. She’s painted murals, illustrated stories, and exhibited in galleries, including being a finalist in this year’s Hunter Emerging Art Prize. Kimberly’s work is inspired by her gratitude to nature and wilderness and a deep need to keep bringing thoughtful beauty into a world where it’s easy to forget about these things. Currently, Kimberly is working between two predominant mediums. She is putting lots of oil paint on canvases (and other surfaces) for gallery exhibition as well as working in watercolour, gouache and pencil to create book and story illustrations. You’ll see the influence of nature in almost all of her work, especially the coast and endemic flora. Her most recent project is the development of a long-form comic as a philosophical exploration of adulthood.
