Margrete Erling
Margrete Erling, born in Copenhagen Denmark, is an artist & Community Cultural Development (CCD) strategist based in Mandalong, in the Lake Macquarie area of NSW. Margrete has been engaged in public arts projects, exhibiting works & coordinating community arts events for many years in Sydney & since 1997, across the Hunter Region & Central Coast. Many of her local works are locally renown & loved, permanently installed in parks & community centres within the area including:

In 2015, Margrete formed Yara Balba Stables Pty Ltd combining ‘Artevents’ with ‘Yara Balba Art Studio’ and the small riding school, ‘Yara Balba Stables’. She continues to work in both the arts & equestrian world, making artworks for Public Art & Place Making projects, facilitating arts workshops (at her farm studio each week) & is an Equestrian Australia Level 1 General, qualified riding coach running riding lessons most days or competing. Margrete now loves to paint mostly, enjoying her weekly art class with other artists at the farm.
Margrete works across a variety of mediums. Today however, she mostly enjoys painting in Oils experimenting with the medium and semiotic concepts. She also occasionally reworks old projects, reinterpreting them, recontextualizing, making interventions with them- she loves to push the boundaries and stretch the viewers perception. Life is too short to rehashold ideas, flex your nuerons!
