Please note that due to COVID risks, this event has been postponed.

We look forward to welcoming you to join the Newcastle Astronomical Society Lakeside at the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima in coming months. Please stay tuned and join us next time, as they point their telescopes to the sky above Lake Macquarie for night of stargazing. Learn how to navigate your way to the Milky Way and beyond, as the Society’s members share their love, enthusiasm and knowledge of all things stars and the universe with you.

Check out other activities happening as part of PRESS PLAY, a week-long program of arts workshops and events at the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima in Speers Point Park from 15-21 January.

The Multi-Arts Pavilion mima (MAP mima) is the first of its kind in Australia – an agile space designed to host national and international contemporary art installations, theatre performances, music and more.

mima, is the Awabakal name for the Pavilion, and means ‘cause to stay.’ This name invites audiences to reflect on the ways the ancient and the emerging intermingle. At the confluence of Lake Macquarie and Cockle Creek, MAP mima brings art, technology and culture together.
