An exhibition of works by finalists in the inaugural yapang Emerging Art Prize.

The biennial prize was developed to celebrate, promote and support emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from across the country. Contending artworks reflect each artists practice across all media and could utilise a mixture of forms, including (without limitation) sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, installation, sound digital, net or live art etc.

Lake Macquarie City Council and Create NSW have committed $15,000 to purchase the winning and highly commended works for the MAC yapang collection.

With a strong number of submissions from right across the country, judge Erin Vink, Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, shortlisted a selection of 32 finalists.
