Ann Thomas

Ann says: “I think my love of colour began when, as a young child, I would spend hours watching my mother, who was a colourist for a photographic studio, bring black and white photos to life with her oil paints. At school I enjoyed creating illustrations for my school projects and bringing them to life with my coloured pencils. Later, when I became a primary school teacher, sharing my love of art with my class was my favourite time of the week but working and raising a family didn't leave any time for me to explore my creative side until I retired. Since then, I have attended many classes in drawing and acrylic painting and I am currently attending classes with Kate Belton at Tinkat Alley studio.

Living by beautiful Lake Macquarie has inspired me to paint a variety of subject matter including seascapes, marine life and the local flora and fauna. As a current member of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society, I have successfully sold several of my paintings at their exhibitions.”
