Lest We Forget

Mary wasn't supposed to be cleaning the hall that night. And so, when a mystery man appears who seems to know her, Mary's curiosity gets the better of her. Even though she's exhausted and just wants to be done, so she can visit her old dad in the nursing home.

The more we remember, the less we forget. But then what takes precedence: the past or the present? The living or the dead?

Playwright - Andrew Brown

Andrew Brown lives in Sydney. Rediscovering his love of creative writing during lockdown, he has had several short stories and poems published in the past couple of years. He caught the ‘theatre fever’ after winning the inaugural Sage to Stage competition in 2024 with his short play ‘Bend it like Beckett’. His entry to Short + Sweet (‘A Good Person’) was performed at the South India festival in September 2024 (having been translated into Tamil – a thrill and an honour!) And of course, he is very much chuffed to have his play ‘Lest We Forget’, inspired by and written on the shores of Lake Macquarie, selected for the 2025 One Act Play Festival.
