Playwright - Louise Hopewell

Louise Hopewell is a writer based in Naarm/Melbourne. Since stumbling into playwriting through a chance encounter with Melbourne Writers’ Theatre, Louise’s short plays have been widely performed, including at Madwomen Monologues, Short+Sweet Dubai and Hollywood, as well as PlaySix.

Louise’s writing awards include a Diotima Prize for Philosophy, Drama and the Female Voice, 2023 and the John Bird Dreaming Award for Haiku, 2021.

When not writing, Louise can be found playing ukulele or riding her bicycle (alas not at the same time).
