Wake Up Call

Wake Up Call is a dramatic comedy about Garry Shepardson, a 40-year-old man stuck in the rut of self-pity after his divorce. One late night, he is visited by Angela, a mysterious and sharp-witted figure who forces Garry to confront his life’s failures, regrets, and missed opportunities, ultimately presenting him with an ultimatum: change his life, or else. The play explores life, what it means to start again, and embracing a bowl full of Cheetos.

Playwright - John Stericker

John Stericker and Stephanie Cox are no strangers to collaboration. First-time playwrights and theatre directors, they have teamed up to bring Wake Up Call to life. While this is their first play as writers and directors, they have appeared in multiple film and theatre projects around the Newcastle area and were both participants in the 2024 Lake Macquarie One Act Play Festival, where Stephanie won Most Outstanding Actor.

Stephanie, a practicing Reiki master, injects themes of spirituality and transcendentalism into the play, while John, currently working on a feature film script, is loving the journey that writing allows him to explore.

Both of their personal journeys have laid the foundations for this story to come to life.
